Mission
Form Higher University Technicians in the Mechatronic Automation area with knowledge, skills, and abilities that meet the study plans to fulfill the needs of the labor market to promote the development and competitiveness in the productive sector.
Vision
Provide a Higher University Technician in Mechatronic Automation area of high competitive level based on their knowledge, abilities, and skills in the labor market, carrying out a permanent evaluation of relevance with the regional productive sector through a consolidated and committed academic body being at the forefront of technological needs.
Admission Profile
Students who enter UTM to the career of Mechatronics Automation area must possess certain knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as to meet certain administrative requirements that will allow them to properly start their university studies. The most important elements that students must have before entering can be divided into two. On one hand, there are the administrative requirements and on the other hand, the academic elements that are desirable.
Among the administrative requirements for all applicants is to have completed high school or equivalent, take the CENEVAL exam, present a birth certificate and CURP, as well as to cover the registration fees for four months.
The desirable competencies of applicants who wish to enter into the specialty of Mechatronics Automation area include scientific and/or technological disciplines; students should know physics, chemistry, arithmetic, algebra, probability, calculus, and trigonometry; they should be interested in technological and engineering areas, and have a taste for machines and tools. Applicants must have the ability to express themselves orally and in writing, to analyze and solve problems, a taste for learning, an interest in understanding their environment, and for their integral formation; it is also desirable that they have knowledge of English and some computer experience.

The Higher University Technician in the Mechatronics Automation area will be a professional trained to act with a high sense of social and ethical relevance, making rational, efficient, and sustainable use of the resources at his disposal; committed to technological and economic development and aware of his responsibility. Able to integrate scientific/technological characteristics of unit operations in the implementation, development, and control of production processes and to solve in practical way difficulties at the operative level of the same. With skills to calculate, evaluate, install and operate equipment, participate in the research process and design processes or technological advances, contributing to the sustainable development of the communities and the region.

- In large companies, regardless of whether or not the technician is in charge of a specific department.
