VIRTUAL AUDIO LIBRARY INAUGURATED AT THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS

The Technological University of Matamoros inaugurates its virtual audio library
The UTM becomes a promoter of the preservation and dissemination of the culture of listening and appreciation for the sound heritage of Mexico and the world, by having the first virtual sound library in Tamaulipas, which is linked to the National Network of Sound Libraries of the National Audio Library.
This new resource for the integral development of the students of the Technological University of Matamoros, will also be available to public and private educational institutions that wish to learn about historical passages of Mexico and the world through sounds.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, who was accompanied by Patricio Garza Tapia, Director of Liaison of the Undersecretary of Higher and Higher Education in Tamaulipas; Jorge Cornejo Buendía, representative of the General Coordination of Technological Universities, as well as members of the Board of Directors of this educational institution.
This modern space at UTM’s Technological Information Center is fully equipped with a computer, internet, headphones, a plasma screen, sofas, among other tools that will guarantee the user can listen to and appreciate videos on the history of Mexico and the world with the utmost comfort.
UTM’s virtual audio library linked to the National Network of Audio Libraries of the National Audio Library, which depends on the National Council for Culture and the Arts, has 439 thousand sound supports; 360 thousand cataloged documents and more than 70 thousand digitized hours.
It also offers artistic, academic and cultural activities related to sound, such as voices of Mexican historical figures, narrations and chronicles of relevant events, sounds of nature, rural and urban environments, testimonies of native languages, dramatic stagings, trades in danger of disappearing, music of all kinds, among others.
