UTM WINS REGIONAL SPORTS TOURNAMENT «ALTAMIRA 2012″.
In the disciplines of fast soccer and baseball.
The fast soccer and baseball teams from the Technological University of Matamoros were crowned champions in the XIII Regional Sports Meeting of UTs «Altamira 2012», which gives them a ticket to the national meeting to be held in Zacatecas on March 29-31 and April 1.
The UTM students competed against teams from the Technological Universities of Altamira, Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo and Soto La Marina, as well as from some municipalities in the state of Nuevo Leon.
This triumph by the students is due in large part to the impulse and support that the rector of UTM, Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, is giving to the different sports disciplines of the institution.
This is also due to the effort of the students and the preparation provided by a group of coaches who are specialists in the aforementioned disciplines.
In addition to the two first places in baseball and fast soccer, UTM obtained second place in association soccer and women’s 7-a-side soccer, as well as third place in volleyball and basketball.
UTM will participate in the national sports meeting to be held in Zacatecas with the following teams: baseball, fast soccer, tae kwon do, chess and athletics.
