UTM WINS FIRST PLACE IN HIGHER EDUCATION CATEGORY. INNOVATIVE PROJECTS WIN CREATIVITY CONTEST HELD AT THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS.
The 15th. State Contest of Creativity and Technological Innovation 2013 «invent and solve problems» in its regional phase, held at the Technological University of Matamoros was a success, with the participation of 160 teams from different educational levels, who put into practice their creativity and inventiveness.
This contest was organized by the Government of Tamaulipas, through the Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Tamaulipas Council of Science and Technology and the Technological University of Matamoros.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by: José Antonio Tovar Lara, UTM rector; José Alfredo Bernal, Cotacyt representative; Ana Isabel Lerma González, ITM director; Ismael Colmenero Lucio, Conalep Matamoros director; Omar Masso Quintana, ITACE director.
Also participating in the ceremony were: Luis Rodríguez Martínez, director of COBAT 02; Inés López de León, director of COBAT 20; Humberto Reyna Martínez, director of COBAT extensión Moquetito; Iván Sáenz Narváez, director of the newly created Cbtis; and Oscar Saldierna, representing the Educational Development Center.
In welcoming the directors, participants, jury and students from different educational institutions, UTM’s rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara, said that the contest brings together the most select of the educational system at all levels, primary, secondary, middle and high school.
In you, dear students, who have the curiosity of the scientist; the interest in technology, the desire to discover and generate knowledge, Tamaulipas has a great potential to boost its development.
Egidio Torre Cantú, «in order to achieve a better world, it is important to strengthen a culture that favors science and technology as a lever for our development»; hence the great impulse to scientific and technological development that Tamaulipas seeks with events such as this contest, he said in his message.
UTM WINS IN HIGHER EDUCATION CATEGORY
With the «Profile» project, the Technological University of Matamoros won first place in the 15th. Certamen Estatal de Creatividad in its regional phase; while the ITM with the project «Vida Digna Bipedestador», won second place; third place was also won by UTM with the project «Grúa Robótica Controlada a Distancia» (Remote Controlled Robotic Crane).
In the upper secondary level, the projects «Detector de niveles altos de sonido», «USB lock» and «Inodomotic» won first, second and third place, respectively.
In the secondary level category, the projects «Motivation at Home», «Ecological Energy» and «Application of Wind Energy» won first, second and third place, respectively».
In the primary level, the «Destapa, Tapa y Aprende» project won first place, while second place went to the «Almohada protectora» project; in the open category, the first, second and third place winners were the projects «Silla de ruedas con motor adaptable», «Tablero Eléctrico-Electrónico Didáctico» and «Compactador de botes de aluminio», respectively.
