UTM WINS DESIGN AND EXCELLENCE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE REGIONAL UNIVERSITY ROBOTICS TOURNAMENT VEX-REEDUCA 2013-2014

The Technological University of Matamoros, Universidad Tecnológica de Matamoros, won this Friday the championships in design and excellence in the 4th Regional University Robotics Tournament Vex-Reeduca 2013-2014, organized by UTM in coordination with Reeduca -Revolución Educativa-.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, the rector of UTM; Roberto Rivas, director of Reeduca’s northeast zone; Inés López de León, director of Cobat 02; Alejandro Muñiz, deputy director of CBTIS 275, among other directors of middle and high schools, were present at the opening ceremony.
The first place in this tournament went to the following universities: Matamoros Technological University won the championship in Design and Excellence of robots; the North Tamaulipas Technological University won the championship in construction, while the Technological University of Gutiérrez Zamora won the championship of the 4th Regional University Robotics Tournament.
This event, which was attended by students from different higher and secondary education institutions, strengthened the scientific and technological development among students of Mechatronics Engineering and Information and Communication Technologies.
The more than 100 participants of the 4th Regional University Robotics Tournament Vex- Reeduca 2013-2014 shared their interest in science, the taste for technology, but in particular their passion for robotics.
Among the achievements of the Technological University of Matamoros stand out: Two-time national champion of Vex Robotics tournaments, which gave him the pass to represent Mexico in the Vex- Robotics World Tournament held annually in Anaheim, California.
The last of the national championships won by the UTM robotics team is the programming prize, obtained in the national robotics tournament held in Saltillo, Coahuila.
