UTM SUCCESSFULLY BRINGS TOGETHER RESEARCHERS AND SCIENTISTS FROM 13 COUNTRIES AT INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

 

In what was an academic day, rich in knowledge and of the highest level, with the participation of more than 20 speakers from 13 countries, the Technological University of Matamoros held the Third International Congress of Applied Science and Technology with the theme «Biotechnology and Sustainability» with the participation of university students, businessmen, academics, researchers and civil society.

This meeting of scientists and researchers is a space for analysis, discussion and reflection on research as a means to solve problems, but also to show the indissoluble link between science and technology with business and society, in addition to confirming that science and technology, in this case, biotechnology, is a strategic means for the development of countries, said the rector of UTM, José Antonio Tovar Lara.

At the Third International Congress of Applied Science and Technology, speakers presented innovative trends and research advances in nano bioscience, cell biology, environmental biotechnology and bioinformatics, all essential elements in the creation of a balanced and sustainable future for humanity to be in harmony with nature.

The speakers at the Congress were: Dr. Jean Marie Févre, from the University of Lorraine, France; Dr. Carlos Eduardo Suárez Ponciano, rector of the University of Artemisa in Cuba; Dr. Lucien Veleva Petrova, from Bulgaria; Dr. Takuya Nishigaki Shimizu, from Japan; Dr. Edgar Nelson Sánchez Camperon, from Colombia; Dr. Robert Winkler, from Germany; Dr. Anna Iliná, from Russia; Georgina Michelena Alvarez, from Cuba; MC, Mario Espín Pérez, from Cuba.

Antony Boucard Junior, from Canada; Dr. Rajeswari Narayanasamy and Dr. Nagamany Balagurusamy, from India; MC. Ramón Gutiérrez Razo, from El Salvador; José Manuel Luna Prom and Arnulfo O. Mar, from the United States; and for Mexico, Dr. Alfredo Santillán González; Glroia Ivette Bolio López; Rodolfo Abarca Vargas; Eduardo Hurtado Delgado and MC. Mario Alberto Solís Alvarez and Noralba López Flores.

It is important to mention that the Technological University of Matamoros signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Artemisa in Cuba, which allowed 20 UTM students to carry out a technical internship in that country.

Meanwhile, UTM signed a memorandum of understanding with the «Prof. Asen Zlatarov» University of Burgas, Bulgaria, which also made it possible to send a group of students to that institution to participate in a course on oil and gas.

As part of the Third International Congress of Applied Science and Technology, a plenary forum was held on the theme «Sustainability and Higher Education», with the participation of representatives from 10 different countries.

The exhibition of the highest technology with topics such as robotics, nanosciences, virtual welding, video games, drones and the participation of world-class companies was also a great success.
