UTM students win Lean Manufacturing Championship
José Antonio Tovar Lara won the Lean Manufacturing Championship organized by the company Delphi Deltronics Operations, after applying their knowledge in the implementation of a project in one of its production lines, which generated a positive impact within the world-class company.
Students from public and private higher education institutions participated in the championship organized by the company, who were trained in the different areas of the company, so that they could learn about its operation and later present their project to make some of its operating systems more efficient.
After working for two weeks at Delphi, the UTM students were the ones who presented the best project called «Implementation of man-machine in CIMS area», which consisted of the modification of one of the production lines, the installation of a conveyor belt and the conversion of a press into a welding machine.
The result of the actions carried out by the students of the Productive Processes and Mechatronics careers was the optimization of human and economic resources for the aforementioned company that annually organizes the Lean Manufacturing Championship.
With this project, the students demonstrated the work that is done daily at the Technological University of Matamoros to train students with sufficient capacity to generate solutions in areas of opportunity identified within the companies, in this case, Delphi Matamoros plant.
