UTM STUDENTS TRAVEL TO CUBA

The Technological University of Matamoros sent the first group of 20 students to the University of Artemisa (in Cuba) after the signing of a collaboration agreement between the UTM rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara and the rector of the Cuban university, Carlos Eduardo Suárez Ponceano, which establishes specific agreements on the opening of lines of research, mainly in ecology and the environment.
Given the importance of this collaboration agreement, the first group of 20 students traveled to Cuba for a technical internship, which will allow them to develop various academic and technological projects, with the advice of PhD level professors.
It is important to mention that the signing of the aforementioned agreement was witnessed by: Rodolfo Alarcón Ortiz, Minister of Higher Education of Cuba; Aurora Fernández González, Vice Minister of Higher Education in the same country; Juan José Bremer, Ambassador of Mexico in Cuba and Jaime Valls Esponda, Executive General Secretary of the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES).
This relationship between the directors of UTM and the University of Artemisa also lays the foundations for promoting an international cooperation agreement with CAISA, the main bus assembler in Cuba.
With these transcendental agreements, a whole process of cooperation and research for the benefit of the students of both universities begins.
The technical internship in Cuba represents a great experience for the students, who from a different perspective than in Mexico, work on the development of innovative projects in one of the best universities in a country with a socialist regime that has been distinguished for its high educational quality.
