UTM STUDENTS ARE A SOURCE OF PRIDE FOR MATAMOROS, TAMAULIPAS AND MEXICO: ASG
The rector of the Technological University of Matamoros, José Antonio Tovar Lara, held a meeting with Mayor Alfonso Sánchez Garza, who welcomed the participation of students from this institution, representing Mexico in the World Robotics Tournament to be held in Anaheim, California.
The meeting with the Mayor took place in the Benito Juarez hall of the Municipal Presidency where part of the team of students that won their ticket to the World Cup, after winning the Vex Robotics Tournament in which participated Technological Universities from different states of the Mexican Republic, Technological Institutes, Polytechnic Universities, private institutions, among others.
After informing him of this achievement, Mr. Alfonso Sánchez Garza said «we are very proud that young people like you represent us in this world meeting; that you carry the name not only of Matamoros, but of Tamaulipas and Mexico all over the world».
He commented that this achievement is largely due to the strong support that the Constitutional Governor of Tamaulipas, Egidio Torre Cantu, gives to technological education, as well as the daily effort made by the management, teaching and administrative staff and the students themselves. In this meeting, the UTM Rector also expressed that recently the Secretary of Public Education, Mr. Alonso Lujambio Irazábal, gave recognition to the University for its consolidation as an exemplary institution in the efforts of external evaluation and accreditation, which have allowed it to achieve that 100 percent of its school enrollment at the Higher University Technician level attend good quality programs.
The meeting also included the presentation to the Municipal President of the certification documents of different careers of the University, by organizations such as the Accreditation Council for the Teaching of Accounting and Administration A.C. (Consejo de Acreditación de la Enseñanza de la Contaduría y Administración A.C.), by the Institutional Committee for the Evaluation of Higher Education (Comité Institucional para la Evaluación de la Educación Superior, A.C. CIEES), among others.
After listening to the university’s achievements, Mayor Alfonso Sanchez Garza offered to join the efforts of this institution so that it can continue to consolidate its infrastructure and continue to serve the young people of Matamoros who wish to continue studying and preparing for the future.
