UTM STUDENTS ARE A SOURCE OF PRIDE FOR MATAMOROS, TAMAULIPAS AND MEXICO: ALFONSO SÁNCHEZ GARZA

During a meeting with the rector of the Technological University of Matamoros, Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara and outstanding students of the institution, Mayor Alfonso Sánchez Garza recognized the students, who he said are a source of pride for Matamoros, Tamaulipas and Mexico.
He mentioned this after learning about the achievements obtained by the institution in the academic, sports and technological development areas.
The meeting was attended by a group of UTM students who will represent Mexico at the 2013 Vex Robotics World Championship to be held from April 17 to 20 in Anaheim, California in the United States of America.
Also present were the students who won medals at the XVII Sports and Cultural Meeting of Technological and Polytechnic Universities «Querétaro 2013».
UTM students won a gold medal in the high jump; three silver medals in Tae Kwon Do; a bronze medal in 110 meters flat hurdles and third place nationally in baseball.
The UTM rector also presented Mayor Alfonso Sánchez Garza with the acknowledgments that the Ministry of Public Education has given to the university, recognizing that 100 percent of the institution’s enrollment is enrolled in quality educational programs.
After the rector’s explanation, the Mayor addressed the students to whom he said «you are an example that in Matamoros there are success stories and that you are our pride and an example to follow».
When we strive and are constant to achieve a goal we can achieve these triumphs and you are part of these success stories that Matamoros has,» he added.
Finally, Sánchez Garza congratulated the rector for his work at the head of the institution and wished success to the young people who will represent Mexico in the world robotics competition.
