UTM STUDENT, JAVIER MÉNDEZ VÁZQUEZ WINS BRONZE MEDAL IN NATIONAL OLYMPIAD IN QUERÉTARO.
The young student Juan Jesús Javier Méndez Vázquez, a student of our University, won third place nationally, through the National Youth Olympics Querétaro 2018.
The third term student of the Industrial Processes, Manufacturing Area, won the bronze medal in the discus throw discipline.
A National Youth Olympics organized by the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE) and held from May 14 to 26 in Querétaro.
In an interview with Juan Jesús Javier Méndez Vázquez, who lives in Fraccionamiento Satélite, said that in order to qualify for the National Olympics he first had to go through the regional competition held in the city of Monterrey, where he obtained second place in the discus throw and third place in the shot put.
«And well, this gave me the right to get my pass to the National Youth Olympics Queretaro 2018, where I got a bronze medal in discus throw,» he explained.
The young Méndez Vázquez took advantage of the interview to thank all the support he receives from the UT Matamoros administration, particularly from the rector, Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez.
«Because thanks to her, I have managed to participate in several sports competitions at the national level and have managed to obtain several silver and bronze medals during those competitions,» he said.
As it was also in the XXII National Sports and Cultural Meeting, Jalisco 2018, where I won silver medal in javelin throw and silver in discus throw, added the 20-year-old.
It is important to inform that for being a brilliant student in academics and sports, today the UT Matamoros Rector’s Office grants him a one hundred percent scholarship in academics, food scholarship and transportation scholarship, being one of the many young people who receive these benefits in this University, this authorized by the Rector Ivett Bermea Vázquez, who since her arrival at UTM provides all the support to young talent such as Juan Jesús Javier Méndez Vázquez.
