UTM ROBOTICS TEAM REPRESENTS MEXICO IN SUMMER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD IN HAWAII

UTM robotics team represents Mexico in the summer world championship to be held in Hawaii

Egidio Torre Cantú, the Secretary of Social Development, Homero de la Garza Tamez bid farewell and wished success to the robotics team from the Technological University of Matamoros that will travel to Hawaii this Saturday to represent Mexico into the 2014 vex robotics summer world championship.

During his tour of Matamoros, the Secretary of Social Development of the government of Tamaulipas met with some of the members of the robotics team, who were accompanied by the UTM Rector, Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, who gave a brief explanation of the achievements obtained in the vex robotics tournaments, regionally, nationally and internationally, which allowed them to be invited to participate in the world event to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The UTM robotics team that will represent Mexico in the championship to be held from July 9 to 13 is made up of students Luis Bautista Tovar, Gemma Dennise Ruiz Balleza, Cristhian Díaz Hernández, as well as robotics master professor Ricardo Esteban Treviño Parras.

Among the achievements of UTM’s robotics team are first place in: tournament champion 2011; build award 2012; programming 2013; design and excellence 2013; design 2014; construction 2014 and excellence 2014.

These achievements have allowed the university’s team to become three-time national champions and represent Mexico in the vex robotics world championship held annually in Anaheim, California.

In this year’s tournament, the team placed in the top 10 worldwide, which is why they received a direct invitation from Jason Morrella, president of the Robotics Educational Competition Foundation, to participate in 2014 vex robotics summer world championship.

The Secretary of Social Development of the Government of Tamaulipas expressed the best of success to the team of this institution that will represent Mexico in this meeting that will bring together the 60 best robotics teams in the world.
