UTM HOSTS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WEEK

Conferences, guided tours, film-science, among other activities will be held at the Technological University of Matamoros, as part of the 19th National Week of Science and Technology to be held from September 24 to 28, informed the institution’s rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara.

The activities programmed for this week, entitled «Society and the Knowledge Economy», are organized with the support of the state government and the Tamaulipas Council of Science and Technology.

On Monday, September 24, the conference «Use and Care of Water» will be presented by the staff of the Water Culture Program of the Matamoros Water and Drainage Board (Junta de Aguas y Drenaje de Matamoros).

On Tuesday, September 25, the conference «Project Development» will be given by engineers Jaime Peña and Alberto González, from National Instruments.

The film «The International Space Station» will also be shown that day as part of the Cine-Ciencia program.

On September 26, Physicist Juan Tonda Mazón, member of the Mexican Academy of Science and the Museum of Science and Technology of the UNAM, will visit the Technological University of Matamoros to give the lecture «¿Y tú que ves? Optical Illusion.

On the same day, a play promoted by the Tamaulipas Council of Science and Technology will be presented, with the theme «Environmental Care», aimed at students from different educational levels.

September 27th is dedicated to fifth and sixth-grade students. This day they will be exposed to topics related to mathematics, with the generation of energy through the wind, with the plastic factory of the UTM; they will also be able to observe the mechanism used for the elevation of a rocket; they will play Rubik’s cubes, among other activities.

On September 28, the program of activities will close with the lectures «Thermopositioning» by engineer Renato Martinez Nila, from Festo Neumatic and «Global Warming» by engineer Romualdo Vazquez Aranda.
