UTM hosted the 20th State Contest of Creativity and Technological Innovation.

With the presentation of more than 160 projects, belonging to students from elementary, middle school, high school and postgraduate levels, on October 2 and in the facilities of the Technological University of Matamoros, the 20th. State Contest of Creativity and Technological Innovation in its regional stage was held on October 2 at the facilities of the Technological University of Matamoros.
In this space, the students showed their interest and taste for Science and Technology, as they presented prototypes of great importance for the solution of problems in everyday life, as was the case of the project called «Careful, baby on board», among others that today will represent us in the state contest to be held in the last days of this month in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.
Beatriz Aydee Yarritu Saeb, Director of Academic Liaison, welcomed all the authorities and participating students on behalf of UTM’s Rector, Flavio Hinojosa Álvarez. Alfredo Bernal Segura, head of the Patents Department, congratulated and spoke on behalf of the Director General of Cotacyt, Arnoldo de la Garza.
After an important participation, where the jury was very attentive to the explanation of each of the projects, they finally deliberated and announced the winners of this meeting.
In the Petit category, the winning project was: Alerta Bebé a Bordo, created by the student Diego Alberto Hernández Rojas, student of «Lázaro Cárdenas» Elementary School.
First place in the Kids category, the winning project was: Repelente Natural 3 Escencias, by student Ximena López from Colegio Juvenal Rendon.
First place in the secondary category, the winning project was Frutina by student Álvaro Aguirre from Colegio Juvenal Rendon.
First place in the high school level went to the project Mejores Condiciones de Eclusion de Artemias SP by student Merary Vargas Mejía of Cetmar 35.
While the first place in the upper level went to the SGBD Laboratory-UT project of the student Jorge Israel Lopez Rojas from UT Matamoros.
The inauguration of this contest was in charge of the Head of the Regional Center for Educational Development in Matamoros, Dr. María Elena Flores Montalvo, who did so on behalf of the State Secretary of Education, Dr. Héctor Escobar Salazar.
The State Contest will be held in the last days of this month in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, while the National Contest will be held in Morelia in the last days of November.
