UTM CARRIES OUT VARIOUS ACTIVITIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF ITS STUDENTS.

Students and teachers from Universidad Tecnológica de Matamoros participated in the Forum «NAFTA 2.0: The Resiliency and the Future of the Texas-U.S. & Mexico Economies», which was held at Texas SouthMost College in Brownsville, Texas.

This was informed by the UT Matamoros Rector, Flavio Hinojosa Alvarez, who said that the forum was organized by Texas SouthMost College and the Tamaulipas Secretary of Education and that it was offered to faculty and students from various universities in both border municipalities.

«Basically, they were issues related to the renegotiation of the Free Trade Agreement, the terms of the agreement and the differences with the current one,» he said.

The forum was attended by Mr. Miguel Tinoco Sánchez, Undersecretary of Higher and Higher Education in Tamaulipas, Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, as State Education Advisor, Dr. Cecilia Tapia Mancilla, in charge of the Higher Education Office, Ms. Viridiana Llanas Palacios, head of the International Programs Department, and Francisco Galván Garza as representative of the State of Tamaulipas in Texas. Mrs. Adela Garza, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Dr. Jesús Roberto Rodríguez as President of Texas SouthMost College (TSC) also participated.

In other information, the UT Matamoros Rector also said that the cycle of conferences continues at the UT Matamoros facilities, «We have already had the participation of Cynthia Hellen with the theme of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Digital Media, as well as Andrés Fusco Cynes, Commissioner of Energy in Tamaulipas with his conference «The Future of Energy».

Conferences of great interest for students to enrich their knowledge, so that they know how to undertake their projects and about the care of the environment.
In this last conference, The Energetic Future, the entire UT Matamoros committee was sworn in and will work with sustainability projects, as UTM is on its way to becoming a Bilingual, International and Sustainable Technological University (BIS).
