UTM and Coca-Cola unveil happiness to children in rural communities.
On the occasion of the upcoming arrival of Christmas, the Technological University of Matamoros and the Coca-Cola soft drink company joined forces to celebrate Christmas with hundreds of children who attend preschool and elementary school in institutions in rural areas.
Approximately 300 students from the «Emiliano Zapata» elementary school in Ejido Las Rusias, as well as from the Encanto Kindergarten and the «Benito Juárez» elementary school in Ejido El Sabino were received by UTM’s Rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara at the institution’s facilities, where it is a tradition to offer a Christmas celebration to the children of rural communities.
On this occasion, the excitement overflowed when the students of the aforementioned institutions saw the arrival of Santa Claus in his sleigh, as well as the Coca-Cola bears, who «uncovered happiness» among the celebrants.
Members of a children’s show with Disney cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse and Mimi, made the children dance, who received gifts from Santa Claus.
Each of the attendees received a gift, cake, juice and candy, after hitting the traditional piñata. The delivery of the gifts was a surprise, since the Coca-Cola happiness truck was available, where the children pressed a button in the shape of a soft drink token and a surprise gift was expelled through an opening.
At the end of the celebration, the children, accompanied by the UTM rector, Santa Claus and the Coca-Cola bears, took a souvenir photo on the Christmas tree installed at the university.
