UTM AND ALAMO COMMUNITY COLLEGE ESTABLISH MUTUAL COOPERATION AGREEMENTS
Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding
UTM and Alamo Community College establish mutual cooperation agreements.
In compliance with the 2011-2016 State Education Program, Matamoros Technological University has strengthened its relationship of mutual cooperation in science, research and technological development with institutions in the state of Texas, including Alamo Community College in San Antonio, Texas, where a group of UTM students took the «International Multimodal Logistics» course.
This course is one of the results of the memorandum of understanding that UTM Rector José Antonio Tovar Lara recently signed with Bruce H. Leslie, Chancellor of Alamo Community College, during a meeting held in San Antonio, Texas.
The memorandum establishes a mutual effort to strengthen research between the faculty of the two institutions, which will allow the promotion of new projects that will generate academic capital for UTM and Alamo Community College.
The agreement between executives also includes the delivery of hybrid courses, which includes classroom classes, an online study platform and videoconferences.
As a result of this alliance, a group of 12 students and four teachers from Universidad Tecnológica de Matamoros completed the «International Multimodal Logistics» course, which also included several visits to the Port of San Antonio, the Latin Chamber of Commerce, the Toyota automotive assembly plant and the Port of Brownsville, Texas.
At the end of the course, UTM President José Antonio Tovar Lara presented the awards given by Alamo Community College, which were signed by Dr. Federico Zaragoza, Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development, and Carol Fimmen, Director of International Programs at Los Alamos Community College.
