As a result of the strong impulse that the governor of Tamaulipas, Mr. Egidio Torre Cantú is giving to science and technology in higher education, the robotics team of the Technological University of Matamoros won for the third consecutive year its pass to represent Mexico in the VEX Robotics 2014 World Championship, after winning the national championship in which 67 teams from higher education institutions from all over the country participated.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas, Dr. Diódoro Guerra Rodríguez expressed the pride that represents for the entity, the fact that young people from Tamaulipas represent Mexico in a championship that brings together the best robotics teams from around the world.

Thank you for taking the name of Mexico for the third consecutive time to the world championship, where it will be reflected in the history of technology that our country is also enterprising, with new ideas and above all with ingenious young people with a high level of IQ as you are, the young people of tomorrow in Mexico, added the Secretary of Education.
UTM will represent Mexico in the Vex Robotics World Championship to be held from April 23 to 25 in Anaheim, California, in the United States of America.
It is important to mention that the robotics team won its pass to the world championship after competing against 67 higher education institutions, including Technological Universities, Polytechnic Universities, Technological Institutes, as well as private institutions, during the tournament held in Leon, Guanajuato.
The UTM team that will represent Mexico will face teams from all over the world, including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, France and Brazil.
UTM, as Mexico’s representative, will participate in the world championship with two robots with 12 motors each, which will be programmed by student Karla Saldaña Saldaña; designed by student Cristian Hernández Díaz, while the drivers (manipulators) will be in charge of students Luis Bautista Tovar and Dennis Ruiz Balleza and as a team leader the master in robotics, Ricardo Treviño Parras.
To accumulate points in the competition, the robots must cross a barrier carrying objects (balls) of different dimensions that must be placed inside and outside a container with dimensions of 6 inches in diameter and 24 inches in height.
Whenever the robots cross the barrier and place the ball in the container, points will be accumulated in 120 seconds, of which 60 seconds are programmed automatically and 60 seconds with manipulation through the control drivers.
