The Technological University of Matamoros, was designated as the venue for the «Vex Robotics 2013» Regional Tournament, in which middle and high school institutions from the states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Coahuila and Veracruz will participate, informed José Antonio Tovar Lara.
The UTM Rector mentioned the above while meeting with directors of the above-mentioned schools, who were invited to participate in the tournament to be held on November 29th in this city.
He said that this type of meeting is of great relevance, since students from different careers put into practice their scientific and technological performance.
Tovar Lara explained to the participants in the meeting that one of the indispensable requirements to participate is that the institution has a robot and that the prototype is designed by the students themselves.
He emphasized that it will be a great satisfaction for the Technological University of Matamoros to receive middle and high schools with innovative technological projects made by the students.
He commented that in the 2013 Vex Robotics Regional Tournament, to be held in Matamoros, the winning team will be chosen to represent the region in the national robotics tournament.
The project that wins at the national level, obtains its passport to the robotics world championship that takes place every year in Anaheim, California.
It is important to mention that for two consecutive years (2012 and 2013), the Technological University of Matamoros has won the national tournaments, which have given it the right to represent Mexico in the world championship where its performance has been very satisfactory by eliminating teams from countries such as New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and Singapore.
