THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS SUCCESSFULLY PRESENTS SUSANA ALEXANDER

Fulfilling its commitment to society, to train professionals not only in the areas of science, technology and innovation but also in values, the Technological University of Matamoros presented actress Susana Alexander with the conference «The role of women in Mexico in the 21st Century.
On behalf of the university community, the rector of the Technological University of Matamoros, José Antonio Tovar Lara welcomed the actress, director, translator, producer, lecturer, woman of theater, Susana Alexander, who received a standing ovation from the nearly 2,000 attendees.
The great event brought together personalities of art, culture, business, public servants, teachers, administrators, UTM students and the civil society of Matamoros. Also in attendance were Senator Sandra Luz García Guajardo and local congresswoman-elect Mónica González García.
In this context, the UTM rector said that Susana Alexander’s conference is part of a program that also includes courses and workshops on gender equity; because talking about gender equity is of fundamental importance due to its impact on the development of young people, men and women in the construction of fairer societies that respect human dignity.
To speak of Susana Alexander’s career is to encounter a daily labor of love for the theater and intense work to make it reach the greatest number of people, said Tovar Lara when receiving the second guest speaker invited by the UTM, as part of its work program dedicated to gender equality.
Upon her arrival to the stage, the pioneer of Mexican television immediately captured the attention of the audience, most of them young people, whom she called to respect each other and live life without partner violence.
She interacted with the audience, told some stories to motivate young people to respect women and finally received a standing ovation after her two-hour talk.
At the end of the conference, the rector of the Technological University of Matamoros, accompanied by the senator of the republic and the local deputy-elect, presented an award to the guest speaker for her outstanding participation in UTM’s gender equity program.
