The Technological University of Matamoros presented with great success the great conference «Reflections of an Astronaut» with Dr. Rodolfo Neri Vela, during an event in which thousands of students from different educational levels had the opportunity to listen to the motivational talk of the first Mexican astronaut.
The conference was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Technological University of Matamoros, directed by Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, rector of the institution, who permanently promotes projects related to science and technological innovation.
At 11:20 a.m. on the morning of November 26th, Dr. Rodolfo Neri Vela appeared on the magnificent stage installed in the multidisciplinary gymnasium where sixth grade, middle school, high school and high school students were gathered.
Immediately the thousands of students present expressed their admiration to the man who in 1975 was part of the crew of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, sent by NASA into space; everyone was attentive, listening to each of the experiences that Dr. Neri Vela related of his seven-day trip into space where he conducted multiple experiments and placed the Mexican satellite Morelos II into orbit.
On November 26, the day he presented his lecture in this city, the first Mexican astronaut celebrated 27 years since he traveled into space. For this reason, the UTM Rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara, presented Dr. Neri Vela with a congratulatory recognition for this anniversary.
The motivational conference was also attended by the Municipal President of Matamoros, Mr. Alfonso Sánchez Garza, who presented the first Mexican astronaut with a recognition that distinguishes him as a Distinguished Guest of this city.
At the end of the great conference, in which he motivated the students to make the maximum effort in their studies so that in the near future they will also be part of a crew like the one he was part of, the Technological University of Matamoros asked the attendees to peek under the seats they occupied because it had a great surprise, they were vouchers for books written by the astronaut.
The winners exchanged the vouchers for books, which the author himself signed before saying goodbye and thanking the Universidad Tecnológica de Matamoros for its efforts in caring about the education of its students.
