THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS WAS CROWNED CHAMPION IN THE XV REGIONAL SPORTS TOURNAMENT

Matamoros Technological University is crowned Champion in the XV Regional Sports Tournament
The Technological University of Matamoros was crowned champion in the XV Regional Sports and Cultural Meeting of Technological Universities «Linares 2014», which brought together more than 500 athletes from Technological Universities of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon.
Teams of athletes from both states gathered from February 26 to 28 in Linares, Nuevo León to participate in the annual tournament organized by the General Coordination of Technological Universities. UT Matamoros, led by the Rector, Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, won first place in different sports disciplines.
The Matamoros Technological University won first place in the following disciplines: men’s association soccer, women’s association soccer, men’s 7-a-side soccer, women’s fast soccer, as well as women’s volleyball, where its members were crowned two-time champions.
The winners of the XV Regional Sports and Cultural Meeting of Technological Universities won the right to participate in the National Meeting to be held from April 9 to 11 of this year, where they will represent the athletes of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon.
UTM also won second place in basketball and men’s volleyball, as well as third place in baseball.
In this framework of triumph, the UTM rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara, congratulated the winners and called on them to redouble their efforts to represent region III, which includes the Technological Universities of Tamaulipas and Nuevo León, with dignity at the National Meeting «Aguascalientes 2014».
