Tobacco Free Day

In the framework of the WORLD TOBACCO FREE DAY this morning the Universidad Tecnologica de Matamoros in coordination with the DIF of Matamoros and the Medical Specialties Unit and Primary Care Center (UNEME CAPA), offered the conference called “Let’s Grow Food Not Tobacco” and “Live Without Tobacco”, to the students of the UTM.

The objective was to raise awareness among young people about the risks associated with tobacco consumption and to promote effective policies to reduce its consumption worldwide. This campaign seeks to inform the population about the harmful effects of tobacco on health, both for active smokers and for those who are exposed to second-hand smoke.

The conference was attended by Diana Masso Quintana, Rector of UTMatamoros, Miroslava de la Garza Luna, General Director of DIF Matamoros, Dr. Edgar Garcia, Director of UNEME, Municipal Authorities and Directors of the institution. Orpha Elvira Rodríguez Zúñiga, UNEME CAPA Matamoros psychologist, and Daniel Alonso Venegas Tejeda, DIF Matamoros Youth Care Coordinator, for carrying out these awareness conferences for the UTMatamoros university community.
