THROUGH STUDENTS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS: THE CONSTRUCTION OF SOLAR PANELS AND THE PRODUCTION OF BIODIESEL PROJECTED BY THE COMMITTEE FOR THE PROMOTION OF SCIENCE FOR 2016: TOVAR LARA

The construction of solar panels and the production of biodiesel projected by the Committee for the Promotion of Science for 2016: Tovar Lara

The Matamoros Regional Committee for the Promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation, chaired by Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, met to present the results of 2015 and outlook for 2016 during a working meeting led by the general director of Cotacyt, Francisco Hernández Montemayor.

The meeting was attended by managers of transnational companies, directors of high school and higher education institutions, CAST, basic education, businessmen, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Fondo Tamaulipas, Canacintra, Coparmex, as well as outstanding high school students who promote innovative technological projects.

In presenting his work report as president of the committee, the rector of the Technological University of Matamoros also reported that in 2015, more than 787 activities were carried out in favor of 42,112 beneficiaries from different educational levels.

The work team is responsible for promoting, coordinating and coordinating actions with educational institutions to form, strengthen and consolidate a culture of appreciation, interest and appropriation of science, technology and innovation.

Among the actions developed in 2015, we highlight the Science, Technology and Innovation principles workshops conducted by university students in basic education institutions, giving talks on the water cycle, obesity, astronomy, pollution, environment and personal hygiene.

The regional contest of Creativity and Technological Innovation, the Science and Technology Week, expeditions of high school students, the outstanding children program, traveling technology exhibitions, workshops to promote vocations in higher education, conferences and international congresses on applied science and technology are some of the other actions developed in 2015.

For 2016, this Committee, through the Technological University of Matamoros, plans to produce biodiesel in a semi-industrial way, from frying oil; as well as working on the agricultural project AGREENITEC with the purpose of offering a service to the community and contributing to the culture of nutrition favoring production for self-consumption, -this research project includes a hydroponic nursery-.

And two of its biggest projects for 2016 are a research line for the production of solar panels, as well as the 3rd International Congress of Applied Science and Technology to be held in May, also through the Technological University of Matamoros,

At the end of the report, the Committee chaired by Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara received the recognition of the attendees for the work done in favor of the promotion of science and technology.
