THE GOVERNOR OF TAMAULIPAS INAUGURATES IMPORTANT WORKS AT THE UTM
With an economic investment of close to 23 million pesos, the Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, inaugurated a building that houses workshops and laboratories at the Technological University of Matamoros (UTM).
Flavio Hinojosa Álvarez, UTM’s rector, said that this building is divided into an Industrial Design Laboratory, 3D Modeling and Design Laboratory, Manufacturing Center, Industrial Modeling Workshop and Automation Workshop, spaces that will benefit 3,200 students from the Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance and Industrial Processes careers.
In addition to its physical infrastructure, he explained, the Government of Tamaulipas invested 2 million 500 thousand pesos for the acquisition of specialized equipment such as a platform for specialization in on-line technological innovation for Industry 4.0 bases, as well as an air conditioning and heating training system with Inverter technology.
Similarly, he said, the donation of a STEM laboratory was received, which includes 30 Pi-Top multi-functional equipment for the development of Industry 4.0 projects, equivalent to 273,000 pesos.
The Pi-topCEED, he explained, is a desktop «plug & play» powered by the Raspberry Pi with a magnetic modular rail.
It is a tool for physical computing or learning to code, most of which are used in the STEM education classroom,he added.
Laboratory and equipment donated by the General Directorate of Reeduca, which is headed by Francisco Wilson Robles.
Mr. Hinojosa Alvarez said that the inauguration of these new spaces was attended by the Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Javier Garcia Cabeza de Vaca, accompanied by the State Secretary of Education, Mario Gomez Monroy, the general director of Itife, Juan Patiño Cruz, the Undersecretary of Higher and Higher Education, Ezequiel Flores Daran Torres, among other authorities.
