THE FIRST UT MATAMOROS CULTURAL WEEK CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY.

With the presentation of a special recognition to the teacher and poet Lidia Salazar Cerda, the First Cultural Week at the Technological University of Matamoros (UT Matamoros) concluded on Tuesday, November 20, where the students of this university center participated in artistic encounters such as singing, public speaking, poetry, storytelling, painting and declamation.

Flavio Hinojosa Alvarez, UT Matamoros rector, was in charge of presenting the special recognition to the teacher and poet, Lidia Salazar Cerda, who said she was happy for this gesture made by the rector’s office of this campus, «something that I really did not expect but that I will always be grateful to this institution,» she said.

It is important, he added, that campuses like UTM support the talent of young people as demonstrated in this First Cultural Week, where art comes out through their paintings, singing, public speaking, poetry, declamation and storytelling.

The UT Matamoros rector also gave special recognition to student Alexa Yael Loredo Aguirre, who recently won first place in painting, through the XXV National Children and Youth Drawing and Painting Contest 2018, which was organized by the Mexican Government through the National Population Council and the United Nations Population Fund.

He also presented the awards for the first places in short story to Raúl Iván Facundo Ramírez, in Painting to Ricardo Aldape Reyna, in Oratory to Virginia Gaona Reyes, in declamation to Gladys Hernández de la Rosa and in singing to the student Oscar Herebia González.

It is worth mentioning that the teacher and poet Lidia Salazar Cerda is a graduate of the Normal School «Mariano Escobedo» of Galeana, Nuevo Leon, as well as of the Escuela Normal Superior de Tamaulipas, specializing in Language and Literature. She has written eight books, as well as poems and literary texts.
