THE 5K RACE ORGANIZED BY THE UTM WAS A GREAT SUCCESS.

With the successful participation of the university community and local runners, the UT 5K athletic race organized by the Sustainability Club of the UT Matamoros took place this Saturday morning, May 5.
It was at eight o’clock in the morning when the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas, Dr. Hector Escobar Salazar along with Dr. Ivett Bermea Vazquez, rector of the university, who gave the starting flag to the competitors who gathered at the Olympic Park in Matamoros.
After running through the main streets of the first square of the city and returning to the Olympic Park, the winners, in each of the categories, received medals for third, second and first place.
In the case of the students who also won medals, they received a food and transportation scholarship at UTM.
At the end of the medal ceremony, there was also a raffle of various gifts, with the raffle of two mountain bikes being the highlight.
UT Matamoros’ President, Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, congratulated the competitors and the students who organized this event, «and here we demonstrate the great support they give to our Technological University of Matamoros, a university center that always contributes to each of the projects that have to do with caring for the environment, thus becoming a Sustainable University,» she concluded.
