TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS TO WELCOME RIGOBERTA MENCHU, NOBEL PEACE LAUREATE

In accordance with the agenda of the Governor of Tamaulipas, Mr. Egidio Torre Cantú in educational matters, Technological University of Matamoros will present the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Rigoberta Menchú, on November 25, with the great conference «Rights and opportunities for university studies for young people in the 21st century», informed José Antonio Tovar Lara.
The Nobel Prize was awarded to Rigoberta Menchú Tum in recognition of her struggle for social justice and ethnocultural reconciliation based on respect for the rights of indigenous people.
In her messages, the Nobel Peace Prize winner has demanded social justice in her country (Guatemala), as well as respect for nature and equality for women.
The rector of UTM explained that this institution works in accordance with the policy of the Governor of the State to strengthen the integral development of the students, for this reason, he added, we permanently organize events with personalities of worldwide transcendence that leave teaching to the young people of Tamaulipas.
Rigoberta Menchú’s conference will be held on November 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Hotel convention center and will be open to the general public. For more information, interested parties may contact the Technological University of Matamoros at 8-10-76-13.
