TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS, HOST OF THE 15º. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CONTEST

 

Executives of the Tamaulipas Council of Science and Technology (Cotacyt) held a meeting with the rector of the Technological University of Matamoros, José Antonio Tovar Lara, to plan various technological events aimed at fostering the creativity and inventiveness of the student community in this region.

At the meeting held at the UTM facilities, the general director of Cotacyt, Francisco Hernández Montemayor, was present and announced that this university will host for the second consecutive year the 15th. state contest of Creativity and Technological Innovation 2013, with the slogan «Invent and Solve Problems».

The contest, in which students from elementary, middle and high school will be able to participate, will take place on October 21 of this year, for which reason the call is already open for students and their advisors to register the prototypes with which they will represent the educational institution.

Those interested in participating in this important contest can register their projects from today until October 9 at www.cotacyt.gob.mx/creatividad.

Along with this contest, the government of Tamaulipas through the Ministry of Education, Cotacyt and UTM are also organizing the program «Science for All and Throughout Tamaulipas», which will bring talks, theater exhibits and other activities to institutions in the outskirts and rural areas.

Another of the events to be held is the 20th. National Week of Science and Technology to be held from October 21 to 25 at UTM’s facilities. Students from different institutions will be able to participate in different events, including lectures, science films, theater plays for children, tours of the facilities, visits and technological practices in workshops and laboratories, among others.

In addition to these technological events, the call for the First State Meeting of Young Researchers to be held on November 5 and 6 at the Poly forum in Ciudad Victoria was also launched.

The first meeting of Young Researchers of Tamaulipas will feature lectures, debates, student presentations, among others. Those interested in participating in this event should download the call for applications at www.cotacyt.gob.mx and send it to jóvenesinvestigadorestamos@gmail.com.
