TAMAULIPAS STATE CONGRESS INAUGURATES THE SMAAP EXPO AT THE UTM.

The Congress of the State of Tamaulipas and particularly through the Culture Commission, inaugurated this Tuesday morning, April 24, the traveling painting exhibition called «Cultural Geographies of Tamaulipas», an event that took place in the esplanade of the linkage building of the Technological University of Matamoros (UTM).

In an interview with the UT Matamoros Rector, Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, said that the purpose of this painting exhibition is to motivate even more young people to be inclined towards the taste and practice of art, «as we have already achieved with several of our young people who have participated and excelled at the state and national level, through painting, folkloric dance and public speaking».

On this occasion, he reiterated, we were able to get the Culture Commission of the Honorable Congress of the State to present us with these 17 works of art belonging to the Mexican Society of Plastic Arts Authors (Smaap) of Tamaulipas.

«Oil and relief paintings that are being presented not only in the municipalities of Tamaulipas but in several states of the Republic, because they are paintings made by artists who live in various cities of our state,» she said.

This exhibition, he said, will be here in the esplanade of the UT Matamoros’ connection building from April 24 to 30, so that our young people can appreciate it and why not, bring their families to appreciate the art of our tamaulipecos.

Rector Bermea Vázquez also said that this exhibition includes a chalk painting by student Karem Vélez Walle, who recently won second place nationally in painting.

The inauguration of this exhibition called «Cultural Geographies of Tamaulipas» was in charge of the Local Deputy Hilario González, who was accompanied by the also Local Deputy Luis René Cantú Galván, as well as Rosa Guerra, who was representing the Deputy and President of the Culture Commission in the State Congress, Irma Amelia García Velasco, teacher Lidia Salazar Cerda who was representing Dr. Héctor Escobar Salazar, the director of the Normal Básica teacher Pedro Córdova Vázquez and Javier Dragustinoviks who was representing the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Beatriz Loza
