SEP DELEGATE CONGRATULATES UTM RECTOR

During the XLV Board Meeting of the Technological University of Matamoros («UTM»), the federal delegate of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) in Tamaulipas, Mr. Gerardo Terán Cantú, congratulated UTM’s rector, Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, for her excellent work at the helm of this educational institution.

In the last twelve months, student enrollment has increased by 20 percent, student completion rates have also risen to 88 percent, and nine out of every ten students who complete their studies here are already working in the business sector.

«This means that upon graduating from UT Matamoros, the graduates are already part of the business sector, thus having a formal job, this speaks very well of our university and all its staff who are part of this university,» said Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, rector of this educational institution.

But there is something much more important, she added, this will be the first university in Tamaulipas to migrate to an International and Sustainable Bilingual System, which practically gives it an increase in its academic quality, «then; the truth is that I am very pleased with the good work that Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez has been doing».

The congratulations were also joined by Ms. Glenda Cervantes, coordinator of the OPD of the Undersecretary of Education, who attended on behalf of the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas, Dr. Héctor Escobar Salazar, as well as Mr. Iván Omar Zapata de Santiago, deputy director of international cooperation of the General Coordination of Technological and Polytechnic Universities in the State.

The meeting was also attended by C.P. Carlos Valdez Suárez, who is the Director of Entities and Trusts Follow-up of the Finance Secretariat of the State Government, as well as Mr. Benito Lázaro Reyna, Director of Regional Connection of the Secretariat of Economic Development in Tamaulipas, the Vice President of CANACINTRA, Engineer Rogelio García Treviño, the General Secretary of SJOIIM Juan Villafuerte Morales and the chemist Alfredo Longoria Garza on behalf of the construction company Rasago.
