REGIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE WORKS IN LINE WITH GOVERNOR EGIDIO TORRE CANTÚ’S POLICY.

José Antonio Tovar Lara, Rector of the Technological University of Matamoros, presides over it.
The Regional Science and Technology Committee works in line with the policy of Governor Egidio Torre Cantú.
The Regional Committee for the Promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation held an important work meeting where the major development topics that are part of the agenda of the governor of Tamaulipas, Egidio Torre Cantú, such as aeronautics, energy and oil, were discussed.
The meeting was chaired by COTACYT’s general director, Francisco Hernández Montemayor, and by José Antonio Tovar Lara, rector of the Technological University of Matamoros and president of the Committee for the Promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Also present were: Ana Isabel Lerma González, in her capacity as vice president of the aforementioned Committee; José Luis Cuellar Ornelas, director of CREDE; Javier Lozano Garza, plant manager of INTEVA; Manuel García, chairman of the board of Bright Finishing; the president of Canacintra, Valentín Gómez; Alejandro Fernández, secretary of Economic Development in the municipality.
Also present were: Ismael Colmenero Lucio, director of Conalep Matamoros; Omar Masso Quintana, director of ITACE; Inés López de León, director of COBAT 20; Humberto Reyna Sáenz, director of COBAT-Moquetito; Profr. Nardo Torres Garza, head of Sector 7 of elementary schools, among other executives from companies, government agencies and educational institutions.
In this context, the president of the Regional Committee for the Promotion of Science and Technology gave a report on the activities carried out during 2014, such as the First International Congress of Applied Science and Technology, which brought together 32 speakers from 9 countries; The achievements obtained by institutions of higher and middle level in international competitions related to science and technology, as well as the program promoted by the Technological University of Matamoros for children of 5th and 6th grade with high IQ and that during this meeting were represented by Ximena Navarro Cerda and Donato Alvarado Hinojosa, who made a demonstration of the handling of the Bioloid robot, knowledge acquired at UTM.
Egidio Torre Cantu for the energy agenda that he is promoting in Tamaulipas, which includes UTM for the formation of human capital that will contribute to the development of this region.
In this sense, he explained that UTM has made considerable progress by participating in calls for competitive resources that have allowed it to obtain in the last 6 months advanced technology equipment such as the flexible manufacturing laboratory with Catia software, which is used by the companies BOMBARDIER, BOEING and EMBRAER for the design of airplanes, advanced instrumentation laboratories, telecommunications and software development laboratories.
The most advanced FANUC robots in the market were also acquired and the acquisition of 200 solar panels is in the process; all this high-tech equipment is available to companies and researchers in the northeastern region of Tamaulipas, he added.
Before concluding, the rector of the Technological University of Matamoros thanked the general director of COTACYT for the support he has given the institution for the realization of different projects, such as the 3D laboratory, which allows the promotion of science, technology and innovation, for the benefit of the university community as well as students from elementary, middle and high schools throughout the region, who wish to use this modern equipment that has more than 300 subjects of anatomy, physics, mathematics, among others.
