Powered Latam 2025 Tournament

UT Matamoros takes the crown in Girl Powered Latam 2025 Tournament

As part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the talented students of the Robotics Club of the Technological University of Matamoros (UTMatamoros) have reached a historic achievement by winning first place in the prestigious Girl Powered Latam 2025 Tournament, held in the city of Chihuahua.

This tournament, which brings together teams from all over Latin America, has been a key platform for UTMatamoros girls to demonstrate their skills and abilities in the field of robotics. Not only were they crowned champions of the main event, but they also stood out by winning first place in the Robots Skills category, where they competed with innovative and highly technical projects.

We are very proud of the effort and dedication of our students. This triumph not only reflects their technical capacity, but also the impulse that the Technological University of Matamoros gives to women in science and technology. On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate the hard work of our students and their contribution to the future of robotics, said UTM Chancellor Diana Masso Quintana.

The UTM Lions send special thanks to Dr. Américo Villarreal Anaya, Governor of the State of Tamaulipas, and to Mtra. Lucía Aimé Castillo Pastor, Secretary of Education of Tamaulipas, for their invaluable support to the institution. Thanks to her commitment to education and the development of science and technology in our state, students like those of the UTMatamoros Robotics Club have the opportunity to achieve such outstanding accomplishments, taking the name of Tamaulipas to the highest international level.

The UTMatamoros robotics team continues to demonstrate that talent has no borders and that women in science have a fundamental role in building a more innovative and diverse future.
