MORE THAN 800 PARENTS VISIT THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS

More than 800 parents of incoming students visited the Technological University of Matamoros to learn about the educational model, academic, sports and cultural programs, laboratories, workshops, facilities, as well as the governing body of the institution headed by Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, as rector.
In the meeting with parents, the Rector explained the educational model used at the university, as well as the rules and regulations that their children must follow within the institution.
One of the most relevant topics discussed at the meeting were UTM’s academic achievements, which place it as one of the institutions with the highest educational quality in Matamoros and Tamaulipas, which has allowed it to receive accreditations and certifications from national and international organizations such as the following:
ISO 9001: 2008; of the Accreditation Council for Engineering Education (CACEI), of the Institutional Committee for the Evaluation of Higher Education, A.C. (CIEES), of the Council for Accreditation in Accounting and Administration Education A.C. (CACECA); Icarnegie Mellon; TOEFL, Microsoft, UNESCO Associated School, among others.
The linkage with the maquiladora industry sector, which allows students to have a real preparation within the company before concluding their profession, as well as the trips made abroad under agreements with universities in the United States, Costa Rica and other countries, was a topic that caused great interest among parents.
The modern transportation that UTM has contracted, the extracurricular classes that are part of the integral development of the students, among which are: Bilingual Youth, French and cultural and sports activities, such as Tae Kwon Do, Music Band, War Band, Spinning, Kick Boxing, Theater, Dance, Chess, Rondalla, among others, were also reported during the meeting.
At the end of the explanation given by the Rector about the programs and activities developed at the University, the parents went to the different modules of classes, workshops and library, where they received an explanation of the tasks that their children will carry out starting September 3, the beginning of the school year.
The tour also included a visit to the robotics area where there was a demonstration of how the robots work and a brief explanation of the achievements in this area, including the fact that UTM is the national champion of the Vex Robotics Tournament, which gave them access to participate in the World Robotics Tournament where they made it to the round of 16.
