MÓNICA GONZÁLEZ PRESENTS COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES OF TAMAULIPAS TO STUDENTS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS

 

While giving a lecture on «The Economic Development of Tamaulipas» to students of the Technological University of Matamoros, Universidad Tecnologica de Matamoros, Monica Gonzalez Garcia stressed that the Governor of the State, Mr. Egidio Torre Cantu, is promoting projects throughout the state aimed at increasing domestic and foreign investment, which allows the generation of more and better employment opportunities for Tamaulipas residents, particularly for young people.

In her meeting with UTM students, the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism of the Government of Tamaulipas highlighted the competitive advantages of this entity, «we permanently promote our state; we show that we are in a strategic location, and we reiterate that our strengths are based on the quality of labor, the vast connectivity, international bridges, highways, but above all that we are prepared to receive more investments».

Prior to the conference, the rector of the UT Matamoros, José Antonio Tovar Lara, delivered a welcoming message, in which he highlighted part of Mónica González García’s trajectory in the productive, private and public sectors, among them, having served as president of the National Council of the Maquiladora Export Industry.

The Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism in Tamaulipas also participated in the XXX meeting of the Board of Directors of the institution, where the rector gave a detailed report on the state of the Technological University of Matamoros in financial, infrastructure and academic aspects, among others.

The certifications and accreditations, the leadership in enrollment and sports, the three-time champion in Mexico in the VEX Robotics tournaments, the upcoming participation of the robotics team in the World Championship to be held in Hawaii, the acquisition of modern equipment for workshops and laboratories were part of the report given by the rector to the board of directors, which was also attended by Patricio Garza Tapia, representing Dr. Diódoro Guerra Rodríguez, Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas.

During her visit to UTM, Monica Gonzalez Garcia also toured the institution where she visited the workshops and laboratories, the Technological Information Center, teaching modules, among other areas.
