Michell Velez wins Silver Medal at FISU America Games

Michell Velez, an outstanding student, won a historic silver medal at the FISU America Games, a major sporting event held in Cali, Colombia, considered the most important on the continent. With the participation of more than 17 countries and more than 2,000 athletes, this competition brought together the best university talent in the Americas.
This achievement marks a milestone for university sports in Tamaulipas, since Michell becomes the first athlete in the state to achieve this recognition, an unprecedented fact for any university in the state.
The young athlete was crowned in the discipline of weightlifting, in the 49 kg category, as part of the Mexican National University Team.
This success is not only the result of Michell’s effort and dedication, but also of the work and guidance of her coach Joaquín Castañeda, whose commitment and leadership were key to achieve this accomplishment.
