MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING CONSOLIDATED BETWEEN ARKANSAS TECH UNIVERSITY AND UTMATAMOROS

 

On Tuesday afternoon, January 23rd, the Memorandum of Understanding between Arkansas Tech University and Matamoros Technological University was successfully signed in Little Rock, Arkansas, where the Arkansas Tech University is located.

UT Matamoros Rector, Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, said that with the signing of this agreement, UT Matamoros professors will be able to spend time at Arkansas Tech University, as well as receive technical training in the English language, since the intention is to put UTM on the path to the International and Sustainable Bilingual System.

The young students, she said, they will also have the opportunity to pursue some of the master’s degrees that Arkansas Tech University offers, through a scholarship fund for careers such as Mechatronics and Information Technology «And of course technical training courses offered by this university center».

Also present at the signing of this agreement was the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas, Dr. Héctor Escobar Salazar, who said that this is the first step taken by UT Matamoros to move towards the International and Sustainable Bilingual System, something that will later be done by other Technological and Polytechnic Universities in Tamaulipas. «But it is UTM who has already made progress in this process».

«And this is a very positive impact, both for the academic staff and for the Tamaulipas students themselves,» she said.

For his part, the Consul General of Mexico in Arkansas, Rodolfo Quilantan Arenas congratulated the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas Dr. Hector Escobar Salazar and the UT Matamoros Rector Ivette Bermea Vazquez because UT Matamoros is the first university in the state of Tamaulipas in the country.

Tamaulipas that signs a collaboration agreement like this one with Arkansas Tech University, «And above all because of the great importance it will have for both the academic staff and students of UT Matamoros,» she added.
