JAVIER SANTAOLALLA GIVES LECTURE TO UTMATAMOROS STUDENTS

In order to motivate students to enjoy Science and Technology, the Universidad Tecnológica Bilingüe Internacional y Sustentable offered the conference «The Secrets of the Cosmos» to young people, which was given by Javier Santaolalla, PhD in Particle Physics and Science Popularizer.

This conference took place at the UTM BIS in Matamoros, and was attended by more than 400 young people from the different specialties offered by this educational center, most of whom are studying different engineering degrees.

At the end of his participation in the UTM BIS, the speaker also offered the conference «Superheroes with a robe», but this, to another group of young high school students at the auditorium of Canacintra of this same town, this at the invitation and coordination of Congresswoman Ivett Bermea Vazquez, former rector of the UTM BIS.

This conference was attended by students from the Colegio de Bachilleres de Tamaulipas plantel 02, Conalep, Itace and the Matamoros Institute of Technology, a conference that was also very interesting and was liked by the young students.

On the other hand, and in an interview with the UTM BIS rector, he said that now in November the winner of the Guinness record in mental arithmetic, the Spanish Alberto Coto, will also present a lecture and will also coordinate the mental arithmetic contest in which elementary, middle and high school students will participate.

«In fact, this is the third Alberto Coto Cup organized by our University,» he said.

Finally, and in another order of ideas, Rector Hinojosa Alvarez said that recently a total of five of his students received the Energy Scholarship (formerly Transcanada Scholarship), which was given to them in Ciudad Victoria by the head of the Ministry of Education in Tamaulipas, Mario Gomez Monroy.

«With this scholarship, these young students will have the opportunity to do internships in assembly plants in that country, working under the profile of the careers they are studying, but they will also be improving their command of the English language,» he said.

The young people who won this scholarship are: Katia García Martínez, Ángeles Langurica, Jacqueline Martínez Angulo, Carmen Vanessa Pérez Cuellar and Luis Enrique Zapata Rivera, he concluded.
