HOMERO DE LA GARZA TAMEZ SPONSORS THE TSU AND ENGINEERING GENERATIONS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS.

The Secretary of Social Development of the Government of Tamaulipas, Homero de la Garza Tamez, sponsored the XXI and XXII Generations of TSU and III of Engineering of the Technological University of Matamoros, during a ceremony presided over by the rector of the institution, Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, in which more than 600 graduates and their families participated.
In the lucid ceremony, the head of Sedesol in the State Government congratulated the young people for concluding another stage in their life project, and at the same time expressed his admiration to the parents for their high commitment to support their children to study, prepare themselves and channel their lives on the path of good.
I thank you, he added, for the distinction of inviting me to be the godfather of this generation of graduates, and I express to all of you the affectionate greetings of Governor Egidio Torre Cantú, who is committed every day to support the education of the people of Tamaulipas.
In his message, the godfather of the graduates of the above-mentioned generations of the different careers of Technical University and Engineering asked the young people to never stop thanking their teachers for the effort made to train them in the classrooms, but especially, never stop thanking their parents or those who have been responsible for giving them support to successfully complete this stage of their lives.
De la Garza Tamez also asked them to bet on the progress of Mexico; to work with vocation; to carry out their responsibilities with emotion and seek in every action to leave a record of commitment and loyalty to Mexico.
For his part, UTM’s Rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara, addressed the young people to tell them that he is proud that they are graduating with a high-quality preparation, endorsed by accreditations and certifications in all careers by specialized external organizations such as CIEES, CACEI, CACECA and CONAIC.
Addressing Homero de la Garza Tamez, he said: «Secretary, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Governor Egidio Torre Cantú for the construction of a new building for software development, telecommunications, robotics, and mechatronics laboratory with an investment of 18 million pesos».
Our students, he added, go far, they have a winning mentality and as an example we have the students who have participated for two consecutive years in the world robotics tournaments representing Mexico.
He also mentioned that in the last two competitions of Creativity and Technological Innovation, UTM has won first place; in the Sports and Cultural Encounters of the Technological and Polytechnic Universities subsystems, the institution has been placed in the leadership, among other great achievements.
During the graduation ceremony, Tovar Lara also announced that on November 26th UTM, in coordination with the government of Tamaulipas, will present the conference «Global Warming and its consequences», which will be given by Dr. Mario Molina, Nobel Prize in Chemistry and currently advisor to the President of the United States Barack Obama.
At the end of the message from the UTM Rector, certificates were presented to the more than 600 graduates, as well as medals to the young people with the highest academic achievement.
