GRECIA SOFIA PRESENTS HER LIFE TESTIMONY TO UTMATAMOROS STUDENTS AT THE PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK «THE REALITY BEHIND THE MIRROR».

More than 500 students from the Technological University of Matamoros participated in the interesting conference called «Rebeca, a testimony of life» given by Grecia Sofia Blanco, who at a national level is promoting healthy eating among the youth, and with this, avoid falling into deadly diseases such as anorexia and bulimia.
Grecia is 19 years old, but since she was 13 years old she began to suffer from eating disorders, which led her to be hospitalized for several months, where she received therapy and treatments for 14 hours a day.
During my stay at the hospital where I was treated, I met several young girls who, like me, had problems and it was living with them that led me to write the book Eating Disorders «The Reality Behind the Mirror», which includes my own story and the stories of other girls; she commented in the presence of the young university students.
Due to this serious problem of the end of the last century and the beginning of the current one that affects thousands of young people all over the country, she decided to take her message to the students, with the purpose of talking to them and guiding them to avoid falling into this serious problem that is a cause of death.
Grecia Sofia explained that the problems of anorexia and bulimia occur in teenagers when their family and in many occasions their friends tell them that they are «fat» or «chubby».
This situation leads them to stop eating, to treat themselves with diets that cause a rapid weight loss to such an extent that when they eat a food they think they are «fat».
In other cases, young girls try to stop eating in order to look slim, like some of the most recognized international models, some of whom have already died from anorexia or bulimia.
In this sense, Grecia Sofia, who lives in Leon, Guanajuato, called on students to eat healthily and avoid eating disorders that can lead to death.
At the end of the conference, UTM students congratulated the young writer for overcoming her problem and above all for sharing with them her life testimony.
The rector of the Technological University of Matamoros, José Antonio Tovar Lara, also thanked Grecia for her visit to the institution and for having left an important teaching to the UTM student population.
