GOVERNOR STRENGTHENS INFRASTRUCTURE AT MATAMOROS TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
In the framework of the State Education Plan 2011-2016, the Governor of the State, Mr. Egidio Torre Cantu visited the Technological University of Matamoros where he launched infrastructure works with an investment of 18 million pesos, works that will contribute to strengthening the quality of education and technological development and innovation in Tamaulipas.
During his visit to UTM, the Chief Executive was received by the rector, Mr. José Antonio Tovar Lara, who on behalf of the university community thanked the infrastructure works that place the institution at the forefront of education.
Upon his arrival, Torre Cantú was accompanied by the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas, Dr. Diódoro Guerra Rodríguez; by Mr. Luis Felipe Alcocer Espinosa, Undersecretary of Secondary and Higher Education, as well as by the Municipal President, Mr. Alfonso Sánchez Garza.
The new building will have a software development laboratory, a pioneer in the state, as well as a telecommunications laboratory, also the first in Tamaulipas, in addition to an electronics laboratory and a mechatronics laboratory.
Luis Felipe Alcocer Espinosa, Undersecretary of Higher Education, explained to the Governor of the State that the Technological University of Matamoros is one of the institutions that offers the highest educational quality since one hundred percent of its professional careers are accredited and certified by national and international organizations and institutions.
He also mentioned that UTM was the institution that in April of this year represented Mexico in the World Robotics Tournament, held in Anaheim, California, where it had an outstanding participation.
For his part, Governor Egido Torre Cantú addressed the university community to express that the State Development Plan 2011-2016 contemplates important investments in education, because his government is clear that education is the detonator of growth and the lever of change for the benefit of the educational community of Tamaulipas.
