GOVERNMENT OF TAMAULIPAS AND COEPRIS CERTIFY UTM AS A «100% SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT».

It is the first institution in the state to receive certification.
The government of Tamaulipas and Coepris certify UTM as a «100% smoke-free environment».
Due to compliance with current health standards, the Technological University of Matamoros became the first educational institution in Tamaulipas to receive certification as a «100% smoke-free environment» granted by the State Government and the Ministry of Health through the State Commission for Protection against Health Risks.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, UTM’s rector, received at the institution the state commissioner of Coepris, José Flores Rivera, who acknowledged the work that has been developed at the university to prevent young people from the risks of tobacco consumption.
The event was attended by: Gerardo García Salinas, head of the Third Health Jurisdiction; José de Jesús Aguiar Jiménez, the regional coordinator of Coepris, among other authorities, was witnessed by students from the Technological University of Matamoros.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, directors, teachers, administrative staff and students, the COEPRIS commissioner said that the Technological University of Matamoros is the first in Tamaulipas to be certified as a «100% smoke-free environment».
This certification, he added, is granted by the government of Tamaulipas, headed by Mr. Egidio Torre Cantú, in coordination with COEPRIS, for complying with current health standards to guarantee the health of the students.
For his part, the UTM Rector explained that three years ago the University initiated the «Tobacco Smoke-Free University» program, which involves parents, teachers, administrative personnel, the medical area and the students themselves.
It is an extensive awareness-raising program that has been carried out with excellent results, which is why today, he added, we are very proud of this certification that motivates us and commits us to continue working towards a non-smoking culture.
