GABRIEL ÁNGEL ROMERO ASENSIO, UNDERSECRETARY OF INNOVATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES GIVES A CONFERENCE TO UTMATAMOROS STUDENTS.

In order to motivate and encourage interest among young people in new educational strategies, the Undersecretary of Innovation and Information Technology, Gabriel Angel Romero Asensio, offered a conference on «Development of the Animation and Entertainment Industry», which was aimed at more than 350 students of the Bilingual, International and Sustainable Technological University of Matamoros.

On Friday afternoon, Romero Asensio spoke with the young people about these new strategies in education, which have to do with the application of video games, strategies that are already being used in the United States and other countries around the world.

In fact, he said, we are working with the Science and Technology Commission of the State Congress to begin to propose the idea of bringing the First Graphics Processing Center here to UTM Bis, «and through this pilot project we can work on the development of video games and the entertainment industry,» he explained.

«And that we then have a model that can be replicated in all the universities in the state,» he added.

The video game industry, he said, has grown a lot in the last decade, in fact, he commented, today it exceeds five to one the film industry or the music industry and today it continues to grow in a gigantic way.

The Undersecretary of Innovation and Information Technology in Tamaulipas, also said that today they are looking to hold the First National Video Game Development Convention in the State and this, he added, could be right here in Matamoros.

This would awaken even more interest and motivation among young people, «to be able to enter into the development of video games and entertainment».

Prior to the conference, Romero Asensio was able to witness some of the applications and innovation projects made by the students of UTM Bis, a presentation that took place in the esplanade of the connection area.

The rector of UTM Bis, Flavio Hinojosa Alvarez, at the end of the conference «Development of the Animation and Entertainment Industry», presented an award to the lecturer, Engineer Gabriel Angel Romero Asensio, who also congratulated the young people for showing interest in these new educational strategies.
