UTM organizes the First International Congress on Applied Science and Technology.
With the purpose of complying with the educational actions outlined in the State Development Plan promoted by the Governor of Tamaulipas, Mr. Egidio Torre Cantú, and in order to strengthen the scientific, technological and competitive capacities of the productive sectors, the Technological University of Matamoros is organizing the First International Congress of Applied Science and Technology to be held on May 22 and 23 with the participation of speakers from countries such as Germany, Iran, Spain, Mexico, the United States, Bulgaria, England and Armenia.
The international congress will also be the setting for the Plenary Energy Forum, in which the following will participate as panelists: Dr. Porfirio Alvarez Flores, executive secretary of the International Marine Research Consortium Gulf of Mexico; Rafael Colas Ortiz, with a doctorate in Metallurgy from the University of Sheffield, Great Britain.
Other panelists include Dr. Wilfrido Contreras Sánchez, director of the Biological Sciences Academic Division of the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco; Dr. Joanna Kile, director of the Energy Institute at Houston Community College; C.P. Nora Rocío Pérez Flores, international relations coordinator of the Electrical Research Institute, among other distinguished researchers.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, Rector of the UTM, informed that the First International Congress of Science and Technology is organized with the support of the Mixed Fund (Fomix) and the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt).
Among the speakers scheduled for the Congress are: the Mexican Rafael Colas Ortiz, with the theme «Collaboration between academia and industry in technological projects»; Lucien Petrova, from Bulgaria will present «see corrosion of metals in the presence of bio-fouling».
Iván Campos, leader of the Spanish surface group, will give a lecture on «Bureaucratization in Mexico: Perspectives and industrial applications»; Ralph Quillen, from the United States, will speak on «Mold design and plastic injection»; Enrique Martínez Franco, from Germany, will speak on «Materials processing applied to transportation»; Jhon Walker, from England, will speak on «Tribology of lightweight automotive engines».
From Iran, Niloofar Soltani will speak on «Silicon Nitride Particles». Other conferences are: «Product quality standards and environmental effect», to be given by Raúl Herrera; «Failure analysis methodology», to be given by René Ríos; astronomer Alfredo Santillán González will give a lecture on «Applied Science and Technology in the Universe».
Nestor Perea, from the University of Pennsylvania will give a lecture on «New electronic devices based on 2D materials»; Amin Barhrami, also from Iran, will speak on «Development of metal matrix composites from agro-industrial wastes».
This important congress will be held at the Convention Center of the Best Western Hotel Residencia Inn and suites and will be attended by researchers from all over the country, students from Polytechnic and Technological Universities from all over Mexico, Technological Institutes, representatives from Houston Community College, representatives from the productive sector of Mexico and the United States, as well as representatives from the civil society.
