CREATIVITY CONTEST HELD AT THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS A SUCCESS

 

The 14th. State Contest of Creativity and Technological Innovation, in its regional phase, held at the Technological University of Matamoros, with the participation of primary, secondary, middle and high school institutions.

The opening ceremony of this important event, in which more than 90 teams of students from different educational levels participated, was attended by UTM’s Rector, José Antonio Tovar Lara; Francisco Sánchez Salazar, head of the Regional Education Department in Matamoros; Marcos Cantú Puga, Director of Municipal Education, as well as directors of high school institutions.

Sigifredo Leal Galván, Director of Technology and Innovation Promotion, represented by Francisco Hernández Montemayor, General Director of Cotacyt, was also present at the contest organized by the Government of Tamaulipas through the Ministry of Education and in coordination with the Tamaulipas Council of Science and Technology (Cotacyt).

Students from different levels demonstrated their creativity by presenting innovative science and technology projects that address global problems, including those related to water, energy and security.

UTM WINS IN HIGHER LEVEL CATEGORY

After the jury’s evaluation of each of the works presented in the higher level category, first place was awarded to the project called «Econtrol»; second place went to the project «Ext Robot Security in Extreme Situations» and third place was awarded to the project «Revive», all of them presented by students from the Technological University of Matamoros.

In the upper secondary level, Conalep won the first three places with the projects: Call Alarm, first place; Face Visit, second place and Porther, third place.

At the secondary level, first place went to the project «Total Elasticity» and second place to the project «Recycling in the Kitchen», both projects presented by Secundaria Técnica «Lázaro Cárdenas del Río», while third place went to the project «Ahorramatic», presented by Secundaria Técnica number 76 «Progreso de la Revolución».

In the primary school category, the school «Lázaro Cárdenas del Río» won the first three places with the projects: «Irrigation of Plants», first place; «Ecological House», second place and third place «Special Bag».

In the open category, the winning projects were: first place, «Grease Collector»; second place, «Branch Cutter Adapter» and third place, «Examenes rapidísimos contesta tocando».
