CHINESE AMBASSADOR MEETS WITH UT MATAMOROS STUDENTS.

During his visit to Tamaulipas, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Qiu Xiaoqi, held a meeting with young university students at the Reynosa Cultural Center, where nearly 400 students from the Technological University of Matamoros (UTM) gathered.

Along with the Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, the President of the DIF System, Mariana Gómez de García Cabeza de Vaca and the State Secretary of Education, Dr. Héctor Escobar Salazar, the Chinese ambassador said that with this visit it is expected that more investors from his country will invest in Tamaulipas.

«Surely many investors will come to this state and all of them will be very interested in hiring young people like you, enthusiastic, innovative, who like creation and entrepreneurship to consolidate a better future,» he said.

«Because youth represents the future of a country, for a society and we believe that an educational and cultural exchange between both countries can also greatly promote the development of human resources and what better than Tamaulipas, which today is inviting us to work with you,» he added.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China said he is willing to promote a scholarship program and expand academic exchange programs between universities in China and Tamaulipas, in order to strengthen the training of human resources in various productive sectors of this state, particularly in the energy sector.

For his part, the Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca agreed in saying that many Asian companies are now interested in investing even more in our state, «which is why I have instructed the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas so that all our universities are now better equipped, better prepared students, so that in a short time they will be more competitive by mastering English as a second language, a project that has already begun with several of the Technological Universities such as the UT of Matamoros».

Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, Rector of this institution, said that UT Matamoros is in the process of converting this university center into an International Bilingual and Sustainable University, with the firm purpose that young students are better prepared and enter the world of competitiveness as demanded by countries such as the People’s Republic of China.

A group of young students from our University, he said, have already been in China, meeting and exchanging experiences with other young university students, but it would be better if there were more of them and they were able to find employment in several of the companies in that Asian country.
