APPLICANTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE UTM TOOK THE ENTRANCE EXAM THIS PAST FRIDAY, MAY 18.

The Director of Academic Connections of the UTM, Ms. Beatriz Yarritu Saeb, informed that this past Friday, May 18, a total of 1,220 young people attended the UT Matamoros facilities to take the admission exam, which was administered by faculty from this university but under the supervision of professors from the National Evaluation Center in Mexico City, (Ceneval).
The National Higher Education Entrance Exam (Exani II), he explained, is a test of reasoning and basic knowledge, developed for those who intend to pursue higher education studies, «that is why the material has just arrived with us to be applied this Friday, May 18», external previously.
The exams, he said, come in sealed envelopes, are delivered under the supervision of the professors who come from Ceneval, supervise the application process and at the end the young person returns to deposit his or her exam in the envelope and it is sent to Mexico City.
And the results, he said, will be announced in a period of no more than 20 days, «they themselves, the Ceneval, send the results through their website, and only 1,100 students will be able to get a place with us».
Ms. Yarritu Saeb said that prior to this exam, the candidates who wanted to enter UT Matamoros also took an English language placement test and in this sense, she commented, I want to tell you that the young people are doing very well in this subject, «they bring very good English and this speaks of the good foundation that their high schools offered them».
This practice of applying the placement test in English, he explained, is due to the fact that UT Matamoros, starting in the next 2018-2019 school year, will migrate to become an International Bilingual and Sustainable Technological University, «hence the reason for the application of this test in English».
In this coming school year, he said, we will begin this migration with the careers of Mechatronics Automation, Mechatronics and Efficient Electrical Installations and International Business Operations.
«And each year more careers will be added so that by the academic year 2020-2021 all careers offered by UT Matamoros will be offered to students in English, that is the purpose of our rector Dr. Ivett Bermea Vázquez, the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas Dr. Héctor Escobar Salazar and the Governor of the State, Francisco Javier García Caveza de Vaca.
