ALONSO LUJAMBIO AWARDS RECOGNITION TO THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF MATAMOROS
The Secretary of Public Education, Mr. Alonso Lujambio Irazábal, recognized the Technological University of Matamoros for its consolidation as an exemplary institution in its external evaluation and accreditation efforts, which have allowed it to achieve that 100 percent of its enrollment at the Higher Technical University level is enrolled in high-quality programs.
José Antonio Tovar Lara, UTM’s rector, received the award during an event held at the SEP’s Work Patio in Mexico City. Egidio Torre Cantú, Constitutional Governor of Tamaulipas, to technological education.
In this context, in January of next year, UTM will begin the construction of a new building for laboratories and workshops for Mechatronics Engineering, where an investment of more than 18 million pesos will be applied.
During the awards ceremony and in the presence of the award-winning rectors, the head of SEP emphasized that Technological Education is an indispensable factor for Mexico to consolidate its development, participate successfully in the world economy and compete in better conditions in the global arena.
The ceremony was also attended by the Undersecretary of Education, Rodolfo Tuirán Gutiérrez, who mentioned that the award-winning institutions have made an effort to achieve quality higher education, since most of their programs have been favorably evaluated and have prepared teachers, updated curricula, as well as adequate facilities for the performance of their academic functions.
This new recognition for the Technological University of Matamoros reaffirms the commitment of the management, administrative and teaching staff to continue raising the standards of quality in the education provided to students in the different careers.
It is important to mention that UTM, currently with an enrollment of 1,800 students, has been evaluated and accredited by different organizations, including the Accreditation Council for the Teaching of Accounting and Administration, A.C. (CACECA), the Accreditation Council for the Teaching of Engineering, A.C. (CACEI), the Institutional Committee for the Evaluation of Higher Education, A.C.,by the Comité Institucional para la Evaluación de la Educación Superior, A.C. (CIEES) it is also part of the UNESCO Friendly School program for its contribution to environmental care; it is recognized as a certifying institution by Microsoft and also received the Ibero-American award for educational quality, among others.
