25 Years of Educational Excellence
Founded in 2001, the Technological University of Matamoros has established itself as one of the most important institutions of higher education in Tamaulipas, training highly trained professionals committed to the development of the region.
Over 25 years, the University has maintained sustained growth in enrollment, infrastructure, academic quality and links with the productive sector, currently reaching an enrollment of more than 4,300 students, which positions it as the largest university in the state of Tamaulipas.
In recent years, the institution has experienced a stage of historic transformation thanks to the support of the Governor of the State, Dr. Américo Villarreal Anaya, and the impulse of the Secretary of Education of Tamaulipas, Miguel Ángel Valdez García, significantly strengthening the university infrastructure, the equipment of laboratories, workshops, classrooms, sports spaces and technologies for learning.
The University has distinguished itself for its leadership in innovation, science and technology, highlighting the creation of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the strengthening of its academic programs and the successful participation of its students in national and international competitions in robotics, creativity and technological innovation.
Student achievements have taken the name of Tamaulipas beyond our borders through mobility and academic exchange programs in countries such as the United States, Canada, France, England and nations of the African continent, strengthening a global vision in the professional training of its students.
In the field of sports, the Technological University of Matamoros has achieved important triumphs in national university meetings, consolidating itself as an institution that promotes comprehensive training, discipline, leadership and teamwork.
Committed to the strategic needs of the region, the University continues to expand its educational offer with new programs aimed at the industrial, logistical and technological development of Tamaulipas, aligned with the growth projects promoted by the state.
The year 2026 marks a historic event with the opening of the Master’s Degree in Information Technologies with a Specialty in Project Management, becoming the institution’s first graduate program and initiating a new stage of academic consolidation.
25 years after its foundation, and under the leadership of the Rector Mtra. Diana Masso Quintana, the Technological University of Matamoros is experiencing one of the most transcendental stages of its history. With the largest enrollment in the state, a renewed infrastructure, outstanding academic, sports and international achievements, and the opening of its first graduate program, the institution consolidates itself as a benchmark for technological higher education in Tamaulipas, training the talent that drives the development of our region and Mexico.
