UTMatamoros Joins “Beach Cleanup Day at Playa Bagdad”
🌎 Committed to the environment!
As part of the sustainability efforts within the Bilingual, International, and Sustainable (BIS) programs, UTMatamoros proudly participated in the Beach Cleanup Day at Playa Bagdad, led by the local government under Mayor José Alberto Granados Fávila, through the Department of Environment and Sustainable Development.
This initiative aimed to actively contribute to environmental preservation and raise awareness in our community about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
During the cleanup, volunteers collected solid waste including plastics, cans, glass, and other pollutants. Marine biologist Alejandro R. Caballero also gave an insightful talk on the impact of marine pollution and the dangers posed by microplastics.
A heartfelt thank you to all students and faculty who joined this meaningful cause.
